Cheezy Alkaline Kale Chips
Ingredients:
1 bunch of organic kale
1 tablespoon of any of the approved oils. I prefer grapeseed, olive, or avocado oil…coconut oil would probably not taste too great! I suggest you only buy and use cold-pressed.
Sea salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 Cup of Tahini Butter
¼ Cup of Key Lime Juice
Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for some heat)
Sesame Seeds
Prepare Kale:
Wash the kale thoroughly and dry by patting it down with paper towels or using a salad spinner. Fun EMBARRISING FACT: I used to think a salad spinner was for tossing salads. ☹ Anyway, remove the tough stems and tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces.
Massage Kale:
In a large bowl, drizzle the kale with any of the suggested Dr. Sebi approved oils and massage it gently. This helps to coat the kale evenly.
Seasoning:
In a small bowl, mix together sea salt, onion powder, and cayenne pepper if using. Then pour in the tahini, then key lime juice. PRO TIP: Pour in the tahini and key lime juice, half at a time. I like my kale chips tart and a ¼ cup may be too murrrch for you. 😊
Coat with Seasoning:
Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the kale and toss until the leaves are evenly coated. Then sprinkle the sesame seeds.
Next,
Taste it! Is it missing anything? ANOTHER FUN FACT: I ate almost half of my food at this point a few times before I had the chance to make them chips. Whew. Anywho, feel free to FREESTYLE! That’s what “Cooking” is…although we’re not cooking exactly, but getting in the kitchen is about experimenting!
Arrange on Baking Sheet:
I don’t line my dehydrator, though you may want too. If you do, line it with parchment paper. Arrange the seasoned kale leaves in a single layer, ensuring they are not crowded.
Dehydrate on Medium for about 2 hours. Check on them. Are they crispy enough for you? No, then keep dehydrating and take mental note on how long it takes for your type of dehydrator. Just like ovens, dehydrators are different! Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
Let Cool and Enjoy:
Once done, remove from the dehydrator and let the kale chips cool for a few minutes…if you can! But note, they will crisp up further as they cool. Enjoy your alkaline kale chips!
Remember to follow Dr. Sebi's guidelines for choosing organic and natural ingredients. Adjust the seasoning to your taste preferences. Enjoy your healthy and alkaline snack!
Peace out!
