Chickpea Patties

Chickpea Patties

  • 1 box (13.4 ounces) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup alkaline breadcrumbs or ground quinoa -
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro or parsley
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and papaya pepper to taste -
  • 2 tbsps GOLD Sea Moss gel (for binding) -
  • 1/2 cup chickpea flour (for binding)  May need more when you begin patting them into shapes.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)

  1. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, breadcrumbs/ground quinoa, red onion, cilantro or parsley, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, and papaya pepper. Pulse until well combined but not completely smooth. If the mixture is too dry, you can add a beaten egg to help bind it together.

  2. Form the mixture into patties of your desired size. If the mixture is too sticky, you can wet your hands to make shaping easier.

  3. Heat grapeseed oil in a pan over medium heat.

  4. Place the chickpea patties in the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  5. Once cooked, transfer the patties to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

  6. Serve the chickpea patties with your favorite dipping sauce, in a pita, or as a topping for salads.

Enjoy your delicious homemade Chickpea Patties!
